Dynamic Duo Travels Again

Map picture

In truth it seems as if we have just barely gotten unpacked from our last trip before we find ourselves once again preparing for a journey. We have only two trips planned this year, and this will be the first of them.

Next week we will fly to Santiago, Chile. After spending two nights catching up from the usual travails of travelling, we will be driven two hours to the port city of Valparaiso, where we will board the Silver Cloud for an 18 day trip up the west coast of South America. Eventually we will transit the Panama Canal and end our trip at Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

In addition to Chile, we will visit Peru, Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica. The highlight of this trip for us will be the four day/3night side trip to the town of Puno in Peru, which lies on the shore of Lake Titicaca. High in the Andes, this is the highest navigable lake in the world being at an altitude of roughly 11,000ft. Here we are scheduled to visit the floating islands of the Uros people. These islands are made from totora reeds which grow along the shores of the lake, and these people have lived in this manner for centuries... Should be fun!
